How to Shop Walgreens

I am going to attempt to help beginners on How to Shop Walgreens. This can be very confusing for people just starting out saving at Walgreens. I have been doing this for a while and so if this sounds confusing or you have questions, Please ask by commenting down below and I will answer as much as I can :)
*This post is without getting coupons involved. I will have another post later on How to Coupon at Walgreens.

Walgreens, also known as "Wags", is a great place to get cheap or even FREE toiletries and more! Walgreens does not have a customer loyalty card.. anyone may shop and receive Register Rewards (RR)-pictured above, which are Walgreens "Store Dollars" that print out and will be handed to you with your receipt. Do Not Lose These! Now, in the Walgreens store Ad..look for Register Reward Deals, for example..

So what this is saying is, you are going to pay the sale price $8..you will receive an $8 Register Reward (RR) along with your receipt. You may now use that RR on your next Walgreens purchase. So you are using a little cash Out Of Pocket, but you are getting it back in Walgreens cash..so it's like getting it for FREE!

Some Things to Know About the Register Reward

• Can't be used on alcohol, cigarettes, gift cards, phone cards
• You will not receive the RR until AFTER you pay for your transaction
• Register Rewards expire 2 weeks after being issued-Do Not Let Them Expire!
• In order to use a RR that you received from a previous transaction, your present transaction total BEFORE taxes must be equal or greater than the RR amount
• !!THE MOST CONFUSING BUT MOST IMPORTANT RULE!!- The RR's will have the brand that gave you the Register Rewards printed on it..so if you bought and received a RR from a P&G: Proctor & Gamble product (Tide, Gillette, Old Spice, Dawn, Crest, Olay, Covergirl and many more)..then you CANNOT use it on another Proctor & Gamble Register Reward Deal, because it will not print out the RR for the 2nd transaction.
  *so don't use a RR that you got from Tide Register Reward Deal and use it to purchase a Gillette Register Reward Deal. If the Gillette is not a Register Reward Deal then you may use it!

If you are confused or need to ask questions while you are in the store..don't panic! Ask the Walgreens employees. They are trained very well!

"Where can you find coupons?"

Many people ask "where can you find coupons?". Well, coupons are everywhere! When you're first starting out couponing, it may seem like you're never going to be able to get a good pile of coupons. Well no worries, there are many sources out there..
1.) the Sunday newspaper
2.) ALL YOU magazine (available at Walmart)- has usually $80-$100 worth of coupons!
3.) make an email address specifically for couponing, requesting samples almost always come with coupons.
4.) write your favorite product companies and give them feedback- whether it be negative or positive they will usually send you some pretty good coupons.
5.) print coupons from home- redplum.com, smartsource.com, and coupons.com are the 3 most trusted and best sites for printable coupons. (remember..you can print each coupon twice from each computer, so be sure to hit that back button and then refresh to print that 2nd time!)
6.) watch for blinkie coupons in your stores, also look on product packages for some peelie coupons!

6/5 CVS "Mini Challenge" -SIMPLIFIED

Some people are getting confused from my 6/5 CVS "Mini Challenge"..so I tried to simplify it as much as possible.

SHOPPING LIST:

1 Oral-B Pulsar Toothbrush 1 pk $6.00
1 Crest Pro-Health Rinse (mouthwash) 1Liter $4.50
1 Excedrin Extra Strength/Migraine 8ct $0.99

COUPONS YOU'RE GOING TO USE: (both coupons are from June 5th P&G coupon insert)
-"$3.00 OFF ONE Oral-B Adult or Kids Battery Toothbrush"
-"$2.00 OFF ONE Crest Rinse 946 mL or larger"

1.) go sign up for a CVS rewards card at register.

*1st transaction*
2.) go buy 1 Oral-B Pulsar Toothbrush, 1pk $6.00 -give cashier CVS card before they ring up the toothbrush.
3.) hand over your coupon from the P&G you got sunday.. the coupon is the "$3.00 OFF ONE Oral-B Adult or Kids Battery Toothbrush"
4.) you will pay $3.00(before tax), but the cashier will give you back a $3.00 ECB (CVS Reward Money to use on anything in the store during a different transaction)..found attached to the bottom of your receipt.

*2nd transaction*
5.) hand cashier your CVS rewards card to scan.
6.) now you will buy 1 Crest Pro-Health Rinse (mouthwash) 1Liter $4.50
and also buy 1 Excedrin Extra Strength/Migraine 8ct $0.99
7.) hand over your coupon from the P&G you got sunday..the coupon is the "$2.00 OFF ONE Crest Rinse 946 mL or larger"
8.) after the cashier has rang up your items and scanned your coupon, hand over the $3.00 ECB (found on the bottom of your receipt from when you bought the Toothbush).
9.) you will pay $0.49(before tax), and the cashier will give you $3.49 in ECB's (found at bottom of receipt).

*ECB's is CVS MONEY so keep ahold of them, and watch the expiration date!

- After both transactions, you will have payed $3.49(before tax) but you will walk out of the store with $3.49 in ECB's to use on your next CVS purchase, which means you just received 1 toothbrush, 1 mouthwash, and 1 bottle of Excedrin for FREE!!

These are just a few of the "coupon lingo" words, but you will see these quite often!

-BOGO- Buy One, Get One

-MIR- Mail in Rebate
-MANUFACTURE, MFR- Company that makes the product
-OOP- How much money you will be paying Out Of Pocket
-OYNO- On Your Next Order (ex: "Spend $$, save $$ OYNO")
-ONE COUPON PER PURCHASE- One coupon per ITEM, each item is a purchase!
-ONE COUPON PER TRANSACTION- One of that coupon per transaction. can do multiple transactions in order to use multiple of that coupon (every time you pay, you are completing a transaction)
-PEELIE- Sticker coupons found on product packaging in the store
-PG, P&G- Proctor & Gamble
-PURCHASE- Buying an item. Buy 10 items in single shopping trip, you just made 10 purchases
-Q- Coupon
-Q insert- Coupon booklet in the Sunday newspaper (ex: SS, RP and P&G)
-RP- RedPlum
-RR- Register Rewards, Walgreens money
-RAINCHECK- Paper slip that you can request when a sale item is out of stock. When the item is restocked and the sale is over, you are entitled to still receiving the sale price
-STACKING COUPONS- When using a store coupon and a manufacture coupon on one item
-STOCKPILE- To buy several of the same item at a cheap price
-STOCKPILE- Storage of items that you have stocked up on while at a cheap price
-STORE COUPON- A coupon made by store, can often be stacked with manufacture coupons
-SS- SmartSource
-WAGS- Walgreens
-WYB- When You Buy, (ex: "$$ WYB 2")
